Tree Spirits of St. Simons Island

St. Simons Island Tree Spirits

They DO exist! …

I must admit, my first time trying to locate the tree spirits did not pan out so well. I was only aware of 1 tree spirit at the time and knew the general area of it’s location.

I couldn’t find it, so I asked inside a local fast food place to see if they knew where it was located. They said they weren’t too sure, but they thought that it had been taken down from a recent hurricane. Needless to say, I was disappointed to hear this and then left for my next destination…

…only to find out later on that there are a bunch of tree spirits on St. Simons Island. The people I had asked never told me there were others. I was now determined this time to try and find as many as I could. I will give you some pointers below for finding them, but will not be sharing the exact locations of them save for one… the Mermaid Tree Spirit.

STEP 1 ~ The Mermaid

Once you get onto St. Simons Island, you will want to go to the Golden Isles Convention & Visitors Bureau. Locating the Mermaid Tree Spirit is the easiest and the first I would try to hunt down, as it is a very good starting point. Around the outside of the building is where you will find this first tree spirit, The Mermaid.

STEP 2 ~ The Map

Go in the Visitors Center and ask someone inside for a map of the tree spirit locations. This map will be very helpful in getting you to the right areas, but will not exactly help you “see” them all. I wasn’t able to find all that were listed, but had fun finding what I was able to.

STEP 3 ~ The Hunt

Follow the map to each location marked. You may want to ask locals and check inside businesses to get more specific locations, but I have noticed in my travels that the locals might not even know where to find things you are looking for in their towns.

Such a Fun Scavenger Hunt!!!

Try to see how many you can find and let me know if there were any others I missed in the comments below. There are supposedly around 20 of them on the island and these were the only ones I could find that weren’t on private property.
